The brand JUUL was founded by James Monsees and Adam Bowen, two Stanford graduates of a design program. In San Francisco, USA, they had initially launched a vape brand called ‘Ploom’, which was then changed to ‘Pax’, and in 2017, Pax Labs was changed to JUUL Labs, and the giant ‘JUUL’ was born. In spite of having such a modest beginning, JUUL emerged in 2017-2018 as a disruptor to the cigarette industry, and it made vaping more accessible (due to its compact size) and also more aspirational (since it was a ‘cool’ brand to own and use).
